Salary will be negotiated and depends on the skills and experience of the applicant. Education The applicant should have some college. Experience is an asset. Credentials required The applicant should have Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Trade Certification, Farm Equipment Mechanic Trade Certification, 1st Period Apprentice, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, 4th Period Apprentice. Major Work Area Repair, Overhaul, Maintenance, Service Type of Equipment Repair Heavy construction equipment, Forestry and logging equipment, Diesel or diesel-electric mining machinery and equipment, Tractors, Cranes, Bulldozers, Dump trucks, Forklifts, Excavators Diesel Engine Repair Specialization Fuel injection systems, Engine control systems, Major internal engine repairs or overhaul, Installation and alignment of engines and machinery Mechanical Repair Specialization Mechanical transmissions, Drive trains and final drives, Hydraulic transmissions, Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, Vehicle brake systems, Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, Off-road vehicle tires and wheels Powered Equipment Repair Specialization Cable-operated working attachments, Hydraulic-operated working attachments Weight Handling Up to 9 kg (20 lbs), Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) Specific Skills Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, Determine extent of repair required, Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, Test repaired equipment for proper performance, Service attachments and working tools Additional Skills Keep maintenance reports and documentation Security and Safety Drug test Own Tools/Equipment Steel-toed safety boots Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities Attention to detail Work Site Environment Outdoors Transportation/Travel Information Vehicle supplied by employer, Travel expenses paid by employer Work Location Information Various locations, In shop Essential Skills Reading text, Oral communication, Problem solving, Decision making Other Information Technicians from all over BC are invited to apply.
